Installing Software for Windows

To install the KX-P8420 as a local PostScript printer:

Insert the KX-P8420 Driver & Utility CD-ROM in your
CD-ROM drive.

Select the Typical, Compact, or Custom installation
option.

Follow the instructions that appear on the screen.

If this is the first PostScript printer installed on your computer and you
attempt to install the KX-P8420 PPD, the Files Needed dialog box will
appear, prompting you to locate the PostScript driver PSCRIPT.DLL for
Windows NT 4.0.

To complete the installation if PostScript files are needed:

Eject the KX-P8420 Driver & Utility CD-ROM and
insert the Installation CD for Windows NT 4.0.

In the text field, type the name of the CD-ROM drive (for
example, D:\), and click Browse.

Browse to the i386 (the directory containing the
PostScript driver).

Click OK, and then click OK in the Files Needed dialog
box.

When installation is complete, the Printers window appears with an
icon for the newly installed printer.

The Adobe PostScript printer driver and the
KX-P8420 PPD.

Also copies the Adobe PostScript 3 fonts to
your hard disk.

Compact

The Adobe PostScript printer driver and the
KX-P8420 PPD.

Custom

Only the files you select—copies them to your
hard disk.
