LEFT & RIGHT (BALANCE ADJUST) SETUP

Adjusting the relative balance of your system’s loudspeakers ensures that surround-sound recordings, whether
music or film, will present the balance of effects, music, and dialog that the artists intended. Additionally, if
your system incorporates a subwoofer it establishes a correct relationship between the volume of the
subwoofer and the other speakers, and thus of low-frequencies (bass) to other sonic elements. From the
front L53’s front panel or HTR L53 remote select “AUDIO MODE”. Toggle from “LEFT” and “RIGHT” level
adjustment, fine tune the level of each channel with the volume knob or remote’s volume buttons.

ADJUSTING THE TONE CONTROLS

The L53 bass and treble controls are adjusted using the front panel’s “AUDIO MODE” button in
conjunction with the “VOLUME (SETUP)” knob; see “Front Panel”.

NOTE
• Bass/treble settings affect only the front left/right channels, not the subwoofer.
• The AUDIO MODE is “global”; that is, it remains in force with all inputs and in SRS mode.

ADJUSTING SUBWOOFER LEVEL TRIM “ON THE FLY”

You can make changes to the relative level of the subwoofer output. This may prove useful in a number
of circumstances; for example, to reduce excessive deep bass (or enhance deep bass) by lowering (raising)
the subwoofer level

TO ADJUST LEVEL TRIM
Use the HTR L53 remote’s “SUB”

buttons for direct-access level adjustment of this channel, over a

range of ±12 dB.

NOTE
• Channel Level changes made via the HTR L53 are retained even if you cycle the receiver through

standby.
