Basic photography/frequently-used options

Face priority AF/pupil detection AF

When [ON] is selected for face priority, the camera will set focus and digital ESP
metering for faces indicated by white frames.

Taking pictures using face priority

Display the live control (P. 20) and select
[g FACE PRIORITY] using

FG.

Point the camera at your subject.

If a face is detected, it will be indicated by a white
border.

Press the shutter button halfway to focus.

When the camera focuses on the face in the white
border, the border will turn green.
If the camera is able to detect the subject’s eyes,
it will focus on the closer of the two eyes and the
focus point will be indicated by a green frame (pupil
detection AF).

Press the shutter button the rest of the way down to shoot.

Caution

Face priority applies only to the fi rst shot in each sequence taken during sequential
shooting.
Depending on the subject, the camera may not be able to correctly detect the face.
In metering modes other than [G (Digital ESP metering)], the camera will meter
exposure for the selected position.

Notes

Face priority is also available in [MF]. Faces detected by the camera are indicated
by white frames.
