To change the stereo mode from the front panel:
1.
Press the SURR MODE button.

The selected surround mode will be shown on the front-panel display,
and also on-screen provided you have set OSD MSG: ON in the Con-
figuration menu for the currently used input.

2. Press or on the front panel to select the surround mode.

This method also allows you to select one of the Model 990’s surround
modes.

To change the stereo mode from the remote:
1.
Press the STEREO button.

The selected stereo mode will be shown on the front-panel display, and
also on-screen provided you have set OSD MSG: ON in the Configuration
menu for the currently used input.

2. Press the STEREO button repeatedly to select the stereo mode.

Channel Trim

Channel Trim allows you to fine-tune the channel levels to compensate for
various soundtrack anomalies. For example, you may play a movie and find
that the center (dialogue) channel sounds weak, making the movie hard to
follow. Simply trimming the center channel up a decibel or two can fix the
problem. Or another movie may have much more bass than normal; trim-
ming the subwoofer channel down a few decibels should balance the sound
correctly.
You can trim the channels while you are listening to a source, or you can
trim the channels using the Model 990’s internal test tone. The trim range is
+15 dB to –15 dB.

To adjust channel level while listening to a source:
1.
Press TEST on the remote control.

“TEST OFF” will appear on-screen (provided you have set OSD MSG:
ON in the Configuration menu for the currently used input) and on
the front-panel display.

2. Press SET on the remote control twice.

“FRONT LEFT” will appear on-screen and on the front-panel display.

3. Press or on the remote control until the channel you want to

trim is displayed.

4. Press SET.
5. Press or on the remote to raise or lower the level of the

channel.

The channel level will be shown on-screen and in the front-panel display.
A channel level of 0 dB represents the normal level.

6. Press SET when you are finished adjusting the channel.
7. Press or to choose the next channel you want to trim, and repeat

the process.

8. Press EXIT on the remote control to exit Channel Trim mode, or wait

a few seconds for the display to disappear.

To adjust channel level using the test tone:
1.
Press TEST on the remote control.

“TEST OFF” will appear on-screen (provided you have set OSD MSG:
ON in the Configuration menu for the currently used input) and on
the front-panel display.

2. Press SET on the remote control, then press or until “TEST ON”

is displayed on-screen and on the front-panel display.

3. Press SET.

You will hear the test tone in the front left speaker, and “FRONT LEFT”
will appear on-screen and on the front-panel display.

4. Press or on the remote control until the channel you want to

trim is displayed.

5. Press SET.
6. Press or on the remote to raise or lower the level of the

channel.

The channel level will be shown on-screen and in the front-panel display.
A channel level of 0 dB represents the normal level.

7. Press SET when you are finished adjusting the channel.
8. Press or to choose the next channel you want to trim, and repeat

the process.

9. Press EXIT on the remote control to exit Channel Trim mode, or wait

a few seconds for the display to disappear.

To adjust channel trim from the on-screen menu:
1.
Press MENU on the front panel or the remote control.

The Main Menu appears on-screen:

2. Press or to move the on-screen arrow to CHANNEL CALIBRATE.

Press SET.

The Channel Calibration menu appears:
