Advanced Routing Options

Using CoPilot’s Advanced routing options,
you can create combinations of route settings
and road preferences and save them in
separate profi les for quick recall.

NOTE: Advanced routing options include
the ability to alter road preferences and road
speeds for different classes of roads that
CoPilot recognizes as it calculates routes. Be
aware that any change you make applies to
ALL roads in that class. Even minor changes
to road preferences may fundamentally alter
how CoPilot calculates routes, and road
speeds affect your ETA.

To access advanced options, set Routing
Options
to Advanced at the top of the
Routing screen. All advanced routing options
will be displayed. At the top of these options
you’ll see a Road Preference Profi le pick
list of all existing profi les (if there are any).
Settings for the displayed options will refl ect
the profi le that is selected in the pick list.

Routing Type CoPilot’s Quickest routing type is based on the
most practical route in terms of road quality, terrain, and urban/rural
classifi cations. Shortest routing travels the least distance where
possible while maintaining some level of practicality.

Toll Avoidance — Select Always Avoid to always avoid toll roads
even when the resulting route is impractical or out-of-the-way, Use if
Necessary
to avoid tolls where practical, or No Restriction to ignore
toll status of roads.

International Borders Open(U.S. only) Check to have CoPilot
route across international borders. When this option is turned off, your
route won’t cross borders even when it would be more practical.

Show London Congestion Zone Warning (U.K. only) Display a
warning when your route will take you into the London Congestion
Zone.

Creating a Road Preference Profi le

To create a new profi le, press Menu > New.
Enter a new Profi le Name and set the basic
and advanced routing options the way you
want them for this profi le.

The Take Breaks option affects your ETA
calculation; for example, if you take a 30
minute break for every 4 hours of travel,
CoPilot will adjust the ETA for a 5 hour trip
to 5 1/2 hours.

Check Confi rm profi le when routing to
have CoPilot prompt you to choose a profi le
each time a new route is calculated.

To set avoid/favor preferences and average
road speeds for an individual road class, select
a road class under Edit Preferences for. In
the Freeways screen, use the pick lists to assign
a preference and average road speed.

Preference — At the extremes, Strongly
Avoid
will push the route away from the
road class while Strongly Favor will pull the
route to the road class. They do not cause
road classes to become completely blocked
or routing to exclusively rely on road classes.

Speed — Change the average road speed
that CoPilot uses for every road in this class
when calculating your ETA. Press Done in
each screen as you are fi nished with it. The
new profi le you created will now be available
in the Road Preference Profi le pick list.
