Playing a DVD+RW/+R disc

1 Insert a DVD+RW or a DVD+R disc.

➤ If the inserted disc is erase-protected, playback
starts automatically. Otherwise, the Index Picture
Screen appears.

2 Press w/v (down/up cursor) to select the Title you

want to play.
➤ If you do not select a Title, playback starts from the
point where it stopped the last time the disc was
played or recorded.
➤ If the disc is a new blank disc, the display will show
‘EMPTY DISC.’

3 Press .
4 To stop playback at any time, press

.

➤ The Index Picture Screen will appear.

Playing a pre-recorded DVD-
Video disc

Some DVD discs are produced in a way that requires
specific operation or allows only limited operation during
playback. In these cases the Recorder may not respond to
all operating commands. When this occurs, please refer to
the instructions in the disc jacket or case. When an

operation is not permitted by the Recorder or the disc.

1 Insert a pre-recorded DVD-Video disc. Make sure the

label is facing up. If the disc is two-sided, make sure
the label of the side you want to play is facing down.

➤ When ‘Auto resume’ is ‘Off’ the disc will play from
the start of the disc. You can resume play from the
point at which it stopped the last time by pressing

➤ The currently playing title and chapter number will
appear on the Recorder display. The elapsed playing
time appears also.

Notes:
- DVD movies are released at different times in different regions
of the world. All players have region codes, and discs can have
an optional region code. If you load a disc that has a different
region code than your Recorder, you will see the region code
notice on the screen. The disc will not play and should be
unloaded.

- The region code of this Recorder is one (1). This
is stated on a label on the back of your
Recorder.
- Regional coding is not applicable for
DVD+RW/+R discs.

2 The disc may invite you to select an item from a menu.

If the selections are numbered, press the appropriate
numerical button; if not, use w/v/u/t (down/up/right/
left cursor) to highlight your selection, then press
ENTER/OK.

3 To stop play at any time, press

.

➤ The default screen will appear, giving information
about the current status of the Recorder.

Note:
During playback you can display and enter the DVD disc menu
by pressing
TOP MENU.

Playing a (Super) Video CD

1 Insert a (Super) Video CD.

➤ When ‘Auto resume’ is ‘On’ (see ‘User
preferences’),
playback starts automatically from the
point at which it stopped the last time the disc played.
➤ The disc may invite you to select an item from a
menu. If the selections are numbered, press the
appropriate numerical button.

2 To stop play at any time, press
