Batch
Installation
Prerequisites
for Windows
Vista and
Windows 7

If you are using Windows Vista or Windows 7, follow these basic steps for
batch installation preparation:

1.

Windows Vista/Windows 7 use Internet Information Services (IIS)
v7.0. To use IIS v7 for workstation-batch database communication, cer-
tain settings must be turned on PRIOR to IntelliTrack ISRP installation
on the device. This includes: Turning On IIS, Turning On IIS Web
Management Tools, and Turning On IIS World Wide Web Services.
Please refer to

“Required IIS Settings for Windows Vista and Windows

7” on page 4

.

2.

Familiarize yourself with the RDA components. Please refer to

“Remote Data Access Components” on page 11

.

3.

Windows Vista and Windows 7 use Windows Mobile Device Center
Software for PC-device data synchronization. You must set up a Win-
dows Mobile Partnership between the PC and the device PRIOR to
installing ISRP. Please refer to

“Using Windows Mobile Device Center

Software” on page 23

and

“Setting Up a Window Mobile Partnership” on

page 24

.

4.

IntelliTrack ISRP uses Remote Data Access for workstation-batch
database communication. IntelliTrack supports automatic or manual IIS
setup. You must determine your setup option and go through the RDA
setup configuration steps before installing the IntelliTrack ISRP CE
Client application to the device. Please refer to

“RDA Configuration” on

page 13

.

5.

After you install ISRP, test your setup by going to the ISRP Batch Util-
ity and testing the Sync URL setting. Please refer to

“Sync URL Setting”

on page 44

.

6.

If you are using a Firewall, certain ports must be set as exceptions in
order for the workstation and CE Client application databases to com-
municate with each other. Please refer to

“Applying Firewall Exceptions”

on page 20

.

7.

Make sure that User Account Control (UAC) is disabled. Please see

“Disabling User Account Control (UAC)” on page 3

8.

Determine the IntelliTrack Device Installation that you will use for
installing the IntelliTrack ISRP application to your device. Please refer
to

“Determining your Device Installation” on page 48

.

Disabling
User Account
Control (UAC)

You must disable User Account Control (UAC) in Windows Vista and
Windows 7 in order to run IntelliTrack software.
