Example 3
In this example:
• The GSLB Brocade Virtual ADX does not support the distributed health check feature.
• Site ADX devices 10.1.1.105, ADX device 10.1.1.106 and ADX device 10.1.1.107 and ADX
device 10.1.1.108 all belong to site “sunnyvale”.
• All the site ADX devices support the distributed health check feature.
The GSLB Brocade Virtual ADX does not support the distributed health check feature, so the
distributed health check configuration is neither supported nor applicable to the GSLB Brocade
Virtual ADX. The non-distributed health check GSLB Brocade Virtual ADX and the distributed health
check site ADX devices inter-operate without any special configuration; that is, no mandatory
configuration is required to make them compatible.
Health check status interval configuration on the site ADX device does not apply to this topology.
Flashback metric is enabled by default.
Example 4
In this example:
• The GSLB Brocade Virtual ADX supports the distributed health check feature.
• Site ADX devices 10.1.1.105, ADX device 10.1.1.106 and ADX device 10.1.1.107 and ADX
device 10.1.1.108 all belong to site “sunnyvale”.
• All the site ADX devices support the distributed health check feature.
If both the GSLB Brocade Virtual ADX and the site ADX device support the distributed health check
feature, then distributed health checking is enabled by default between them. In order to disable
the distributed health check feature between distributed health check GSLB Brocade Virtual ADX
and distributed health check site ADX device, say ADX device 10.1.1.106, configure the following on
the GSLB Brocade Virtual ADX.
Virtual ADX(config)#gslb site sunnyvale
Virtual ADX(config-gslb-site-sunnyvale)#si-name 10.1.1.106

This will disable distributed health check feature between GSLB Brocade Virtual ADX and site ADX
device 10.1.1.106 and now GSLB Brocade Virtual ADX will carry out GSLB health checks for host
servers being load balanced by site ADX device 10.1.1.106. Note that the distributed health check
feature is still enabled between the GSLB Brocade Virtual ADX and ADX devices 10.1.1.105,
10.1.1.107 and 10.1.1.108.
