Review the plan. If there are no problems, execute the processing.

The executed plan is registered as a task.

From the Tasks tab, check the execution results.

After the task has been completed successfully, you can use the created datastore when VMware
vSphere Client is used to create a virtual machine or add a virtual disk.

Allocating storage resources as raw devices

Allocate a storage resource in a P9000 Command View AE Suite storage system to a virtualization
server for use as a raw device.

Conditions:

The storage administrator has provided P9000 Command View AE Suite storage resources.

The virtualization servers to manage are in the Hosts list.

TIP:

If the above conditions are not met, ask the P9000 Command View AE Suite storage administrator
to perform the operations described in

Chapter 2

on page 15.

Information to collect in advance

IP address or host name of the virtualization server on which the raw device will be created

Capacity of the storage resource to be allocated to the raw device

To allocate a storage resource as a raw device:

1.

Select the P9000 Provisioning tab in VMware vSphere Client.

2.

From the Hosts tab, select one or more virtualization servers on which you want to create the
raw device, and then click the Add Storage button.

TIP:

To allocate a raw device shared by multiple virtualization servers, perform the operation
after selecting multiple lines.
