In a case like Figure 4 , the required license capacity for the local array copy software is 20 GB, which is
the total of the whole capacity of volume A and the S-VOL paired by volume A. In addition, since the
extent has the Read Only attribute, the required license capacity for LUN Security XP Extension is also
20 GB.

In Figure 4 , volume A’s access attribute is Read/Write. However, if volume A’s access attribute is Read
Only, LUN Security XP Extension (and the local array copy software) needs 20 GB license capacity, that is
the total of the capacity of volume A and the S-VOL. As described in Figure 3 , if LUN Security XP
Extension’s license capacity is not enough, you cannot create the pair.
As shown in
Figure 5 , even if you set the Read Only attribute to both volume A and its extent, you do not
need the extent’s license capacity. In Figure 5 , LUN Security XP Extension’s required license capacity is
only 10 GB, which is the capacity of only volume A.
