Select VMA, and select Set. The logical volume appears in blue and italics.

If you cannot select VMA, you cannot set VMA to the logical volume. Ensure that the

logical volume does not have an LU path. For more information about the conditions of the logical

volumes that you cannot set VMA, see ”

NOTE:

Settings have not been applied to the array. Therefore, you can cancel the operation. To

cancel the VMA setting operation, select VMA, and select Release, or click Cancel.

Click Apply. A warning message appears.

CAUTION:

To format a volume and set VMA to the volume, HP recommends that you prohibit

writing to the volume until you set VMA. When setting a VMA to a volume containing user data, the

user data cannot be read from the volume. To set VMA to a volume containing user data, confirm

that the volume does not contain user data that must be read.

7.

Click OK. A confirmation message appears.

8.

Click OK. Settings are applied to the array, and VMA is set to the logical volume.

NOTE:

To delete VMA, perform the LDEV Format operation. For more information, see the

HP StorageWorks LUN Configuration and Security Manager XP user guide for the specific array.

Deleting extents

Use RAID Manager XP to set the access attribute to only part of the volume (that is, the extent). You can set

up to 65,536 extents in one volume. Use LUN Security XP Extension to delete all extents at one time.

NOTE:

You need RAID Manager XP to delete only a part of a volume’s extents. For more information, see the

HP StorageWorks RAID Manager XP User’s Guide.

You cannot delete extents for which the retention term is set. To delete those extents, contact your

HP account support representative.

In the LUN Security XP Extension pane (

Figure 6

), select a CU image from the tree. Volumes with extents

appear under the CU image.

Right-click the volume whose extents you want to delete.

Select Delete All Extents. The Setting Multiple Extents (Delete All Extents) pane appears.

Ensure that the volume whose extents you want to delete appears in the Target Volumes box.

To delete extents on other volumes, go to

Select the CU to which the volumes whose extents you want to delete belong. A list of volumes

belonging to the selected CU and having extents appears in the Candidate Volumes box.

8.

Select the volume in the Candidate Volumes box.
