NOTE: Disable appears in the S-Vol column in the LUN Security XP Extension pane. In some array copy
software manuals, S-VOL Disable might appear.
NOTE: To allow a logical volume to be specified as a secondary volume, right-click the logical volume,
select S-Vol, and select Enable. Confirm that the logical volume is listed in blue italics, and click Apply.
Preventing Command View XP or XP Remote Web Console users from
config. LU paths & cmd. devs.
LUN Manager lets other device management tools change LU path and command device configurations. If
you use LUN Security XP Extension to protect a logical volume, Command View XP or XP Remote Web
Console users cannot change LU path and command device settings on that logical volume.
NOTE: If RAID Manager XP is installed on a server host, you can change LU path and command device
settings from that server host. If Reserved is set, LU path and command device settings can be configured
only with RAID Manager XP.
1. In the LUN Security XP Extension pane, select a CU image from the tree. The volume list displays a list
of logical volumes in the selected CU image.
2. In the Reserved column, right-click a logical volume represented by a hyphen (-), select Reserved, and
select Set. The Reserved column displays RAID Manager for the selected logical volume, and the
logical volume appears in blue italics.
3. To prevent other device management tools from configuring other logical volumes, repeat step 1 and
step 2 .
4. Click Apply. A confirmation message appears.
5. Click OK. Settings are applied to the array.
NOTE: To permit Command View XP or XP Remote Web Console users to make LU path settings and
command device settings on a logical volume, look for logical volumes showing RAID Manager in the
Reserved column. Right-click the logical volume, select Reserved, and select Release. Verify that the
Reserved column displays a hyphen (-), and click Apply.
Setting VMA
Access attributes and retention terms for logical volumes are stored in shared memory. In addition to
shared memory, you can store this information for a given volume in a Volume Management Area (VMA)
on that volume. By setting VMA to a logical volume, the information is secured in the logical volume and in
shared memory.
If you set VMA to a logical volume that is a Business Copy XP, Continuous Access XP Journal, or
Continuous Access XP P-VOL, the VMA is copied to the associated S-VOL.
NOTE: You can set VMA only to logical volumes with an OPEN-V emulation type. You must set VMA to
the volume you want to set extents.
1. Ensure that you are in Modify mode. For instructions, see the HP StorageWorks Command View XP
user guide for XP Disk Arrays or the HP StorageWorks XP Remote Web Console user guide for the
specific array.
2. In the LUN Security XP Extension pane ( Figure 6 ), select a CU image from the tree. The volume list
displays a list of logical volumes in the selected CU image.
3. Select the logical volume whose VMA Size column displays hyphen (-), and right-click.
