Navigating the Menus

The Compaq IMD is menu-driven and easy to use. This section provides
information on how to navigate and use the menus.

Normal Run-time Behavior

After configuring the display and rebooting the server, a series of server POST
operations appears. The first screen you will see after rebooting the server
shows the model number and IMD firmware revision of your display, then the
POST screen appears.

During POST, a spinning bar beside the menu item indicates that the server
test is in progress. When the test is finished, the IMD shows a check mark by
the completed menu item. A check mark tells you that the test is complete but
does not necessarily mean the test was error free.

If an error occurs during POST, the server logs the error to the IMD under
Unviewed Events and requires you to view the error before proceeding to any
other menu choices. If there are no errors, you will see the default idle screen
text, as shown in Figure 9-1. This screen could be different if the text was
changed during configuration.
