Removing the Processor and Memory Module

WARNING: To reduce the risk of personal injury or damage to the
equipment:

Observe local occupational health and safety requirements and
guidelines for manual material handling.

Obtain adequate assistance to lift and stabilize the chassis
during installation or removal.

Use caution—the product will be unstable when not fastened
to the rails.

Remove all hot-plug power supplies and drives to reduce the
overall weight of the product.

CAUTION: Do not attempt to open any of the three modules while power is
applied to the system. They are not hot-pluggable. Immediate system shutdown
and data loss will occur.

To open the Processor and Memory Module:

1. If the computer is on, place the computer in Standby mode and

disconnect the power cord or cords. See Chapter 7, “Server Power.”

2. Push in the sides of the latches on the Processor and Memory Module



and rotate the top of the levers downward

, as shown in Figure 3-6.

3. Pull the Processor and Memory Module out of the chassis until it

encounters the module stop latch
