1. Front USB port
First connection to the front USB port
The first time you connect a laptop to the front USB port of the printer, you must
configure the laptop for the port.
For configuration instructions, answer the following question:
Has the printer software been installed on the laptop?
• Yes
• No
5.2.1 Front USB port - printer software not installed
Follow the steps below if the printer software has not been installed on the laptop.
If the printer software has been installed on the laptop, follow the instructions for
configuring the laptop to use the front USB port.
Installing the printer software
1. Verify that the printer is turned on.
2. Use a USB cable to connect the laptop to the front USB port on the printer.
3. Wait for a New Hardware wizard to appear.
4. After the New Hardware wizard appears, insert the printer software CD in the
CD-ROM drive of the laptop.
5. Follow the onscreen instructions to install the printer software.

Follow the steps below if the printer software has been installed on the laptop.
