System Requirements

To use LUN Manager, you need:

The storage system

A computer that runs Remote Web Console (Remote Web Console computer)

A license key for the LUN Manager program product

To use LUN Manager, you must use the Remote Web Console computer to connect to the storage
system. When you connect, the Remote Web Console program, which is a Java application, will
be downloaded to the Remote Web Console computer. You can perform LUN Manager operations
in the Remote Web Console window.

For details about requirements for the Remote Web Console computer, see the HP
XP24000/XP20000 Remote Web Console User Guide
.

Configuring Your Remote Web Console Computer

LUN Manager operations require the Remote Web Console program, which is downloaded to
your Remote Web Console computer. Your Remote Web Console computer must be connected to
the storage system via a LAN, and requires specific browser settings. If you are able to use Remote
Web Console, you must install the LUN Manager program product using the license key on the
Remote Web Console computer. For details about configuring your Remote Web Console computer,
see the HP XP24000/XP20000 Remote Web Console User Guide.

Enabling Required Software

For details on how to enable LUN Manager, see the HP XP24000/XP20000 Remote Web Console
User Guide
.

Notes on Using LUN Manager

If you attempt to apply numerous settings in the LUN Manager windows, the storage system might
be unable to continue processing. HP recommends that you apply no more than 1,000 settings.
Several settings are likely to be applied when alternate paths are defined (see

(page 79)

), even

though only two commands are required for defining alternate paths.

Do not remove LU paths (see

(page 78)

) when the hosts perform I/O processing.

Do not disable LUN security (see

(page 82)

) when the hosts perform I/O processing.
