System Requirements
To use Performance Monitor, you need:
• Storage system
• Performance Monitor software (XP Auto LUN and XP Performance Control are optional, but Per-
formance Monitor is required)
• A Web client computer (intended for use as a Remote Web Console) connected to storage system
via LAN.
To use Performance Monitor, you use the Web client computer to log on to the SVP (web server).
When you are logged on, the Remote Web Console program, which is a Java application program,
will be downloaded to the web client computer. You can then perform Performance Monitor operations
in the Remote Web Console window.

Performance management operations require the Remote Web Console program, which is downloaded
to your WWW client computer. Your WWW client computer must be connected to the storage system
via LAN. Browser settings are also required on your WWW client computer. For details, see HP
StorageWorks XP24000/XP20000 Remote Web Console User Guide.
CAUTION:
Performance management operations (Performance Monitor, XP Auto LUN, and XP Performance
Control) involve the collection of large amounts of monitoring data. This requires considerable Web
client computer memory. It is therefore recommended that you exit the Remote Web Console program
to release system memory when not conducting performance management operations, to release
system memory.

Storage Partition Administrators Limitations
If your user ID is of the storage partition administrator type, you can use only Performance Monitor
and the Export Tool among performance management programs.
