appropriate server. Select CIFS in the lower Navigator to display the CIFS panel, which shows
SMB activity statistics on the server. You can start, stop, or restart the SMB service by clicking the
appropriate button.

To start, stop, or restart the SMB service from the CLI, use the following command:

ibrix_server -s -t cifs -c {start|stop|restart}

Monitoring SMB services

Use the ibrix_cifsmonitor command to configure monitoring for SMB services. See the HP
StoreAll OS CLI Reference Guide
for more information.

CIFS Service Monitoring (CSM) monitors the SMB services using the PIDs of each SMB service.
When CSM is enabled for the first time, it can take a few seconds to update the PID files. During
that time, you may see the following alerts incorrectly indicating that the services are not running.
You can ignore these alerts.

ALERT 'SMB.Service.srvsvc' process is not running on host <name>

ALERT 'SMB.Service.netlogon' process is not running on host <name>

ALERT 'SMB.Service.lwio' process is not running on host <name>

ALERT 'SMB.Service.lsass' process is not running on host <name>

ALERT 'SMB.Service.dcerpc' process is not running on host <name>

ALERT 'SMB.Service.lwreg' process is not running on host <name>

SMB shares

Windows clients access file systems through SMB shares. You can use the StoreAll Management
Console or CLI to manage shares, or you can use the Microsoft Management Console interface.
The SMB service must be running when you add shares.

When working with SMB shares, you should be aware of the following:

The permissions on the directory exporting an SMB share govern the access rights that are
given to the Everyone user as well as to the owner and group of the share. Consequently, the
