Appendix A: Introduction to Android Computing

It’s important to understand that your tablet is a full-featured, state-of-the-art
Android tablet computer – with one very special added attribute, 3D! The 3D

function on the tablet is enabled by a special electronic layer called a ‘parallax
barrier’ that is embedded into the LCD display screen. This layer divides the screen

pixels into a left image directed to the left eye and another for your right eye.
Each eye sees the part of the stereoscopic 3D image intended for that eye. The

result is realistic 3D depth, mimicking how we actually see in real life.

While tablet computing has many advantages in terms of user-friendliness and
ease-of-use compared to traditional desktop computers and laptops, tablets are
not simple devices! What comes with all the wonderful capabilities of your device
– viewing videos and photos, email, surfing the internet, communicating on social

networks , playing games, etc. – is a learning curve, and the more you learn about
your tablet, the more enjoyment you’ll get from it.

To make your life easier in this regard, we’ve done some research and suggest the
following books available on Amazon, great introductions to the world of Android

mobile computing:
