Storage

Note: Proper storage preparation is essential to
keeping the pump trouble free. Following the
steps below will keep the pump in good working
order and easier to start when used next.

Cleaning the Pump

1. Allow engine to cool at least a half hour before

cleaning.

2. Wash the engine and pump.

Note: It is best to wash the pump by hand
(do not use a hose or power washer) in or-
der to prevent water from getting into the
air filter, muffler opening or other areas
sensitive to water.

3. Wipe all surfaces dry.
4. Fill the pump chamber with clean water.
5. Start the pump and allow it to run until it

reaches normal operating temperature to evap-
orate any external water.

6. Stop engine and allow to cool.
7. Remove pump drain plug and flush with clean

water.

8. Allow water to drain.
9. Spray controls with silicone lubricant.

Preparing the Engine for Storage

1. Be sure the storage area is free of excessive

humidity and dust.

2. Preparation will depend on the length of time

the water pump will be stored as outlined be-

Less than 1 Month

No preparation necessary.


1 to 2 Months

Fill with fresh gasoline.

Add fuel stabilizer to the gasoline.


2 Months to 1 Year

Fill with fresh gasoline.

Add fuel stabilizer to the gasoline.

Drain the carburetor float bowl.

Drain the fuel sediment cup.

1 Year or More

Fill with fresh gasoline.

Add fuel stabilizer to the gasoline.

Drain the carburetor float bowl.

Drain the fuel sediment cup.

Oil engine internally (see below)

Change the engine oil.

After removal from storage, drain the
stored gasoline into a suitable container
and fill with fresh gasoline before start-
ing.

Drain Carburetor

WARNING

Gasoline is extremely flammable and
is explosive under certain conditions.

Do not smoke or allow flames or
sparks in the area when the carbure-
tor is being drained.

Be careful not to spill fuel when
draining the carburetor. Spilled fuel
or fuel vapor may ignite.

Avoid fuel contact with the skin or
breathing vapors for a prolonged pe-
riod.

KEEP FUEL OUT OF THE REACH
OF CHILDREN.

1. Loosen the carburetor drain screw.
2. Drain carburetor into a suitable container.
3. Replace drain screw.
