Appendix A. Using DevConfig for CWS
Setup

CWS Sensors can be configured using Device Configuration Utility,
DevConfig, which can be downloaded from www.campbellsci.com/downloads.
DevConfig does not allow custom field names and will not generate a
configuration string, but it can be used to specify the base station radio address,
sensor name, and the measurement configuration for the wireless sensor. It can
also configure a CWS sensor to connect directly to the base station or use
repeaters (see Appendix C, Section C.3 Connection Type Setting).

Because DevConfig triggers a measurement of the wireless sensor every 5
seconds, it can be used to verify that the sensor is operating as expected. This
is useful when troubleshooting as it provides a quick method for determining
whether an issue with data from a sensor is a measurement problem or a
communication problem.

Steps for configuring sensors with DevConfig:

1. Launch DevConfig. Specify the serial port number for the A205 interface.

2. Connect the A205 interface to the 4-pin socket behind the sensor battery

door as described in Section 3.3.

3. From the list of devices on the left side of the window choose the wireless

sensor to be configured (In the example below, the CWS900 is selected).

4. Click the Connect button and press the Setup button on the back of the

sensor.
