The scene modes are listed below.

[Frame Guide] (

) : Use this mode when you want someone

else to take a picture for you from the
angle you choose.

[Portrait]

(

) : To take a picture of a person.

[Children]

(

) : To take pictures of subjects that move fast

or don’t stay still, for example, children.

[Landscape]

(

) : To take pictures of distant scenery.

[Close Up]

(

) : For close-up shots of small objects such

as plants and insects.

[Text]

(

) : For shots of documents and text.

[Sunset]

(

) : For pictures of sunsets.

[Dawn]

(

) : Daybreak scenes.

[Backlight]

(

) : Portraits without shadows caused by

backlight.

[Fireworks]

(

) : Firework scenes.

[Beach & Snow] (

) : For ocean, lake, beach and snowscape

scenes.

Starting the recording mode

Using Scene modes, you can easily confi gure the camera so that it
automatically uses the optimal settings for a given shooting situation.

1. Select the Scene mode using the

Mode dial. (p.22)

2. Press the Left/Right button to select

the desired Scene (Portrait, etc.).

3. Point the camera towards the subject

and compose the image using the
LCD screen.

4. Press the shutter button to capture an

image.

How to use the Scene modes ( )

Ä To change to another Scene, press the

MENU button, and then select a new
Scene.
