Using the Sound
Optimizer function

The Sound Optimizer function imparts a sense
of presence and intensity of sound to playback
of high volume sound, regardless of the
volume level of the receiver.
You can enjoy clear and dynamic sound even
at low volumes late at night.
The optimum effect to suit your environment
is obtained by taking advantage of the “Auto
Calibration” function.

Select “Settings” from the
home menu, then press

.

Select “Audio Settings,” then
press .

Select “Sound Optimizer,” then
press .

Select “Normal” or “Low,” then
press .

The Sound Optimizer function is activated. To
adjust for the reference level of a movie, select
“Normal.” To adjust for a CD or other software
whose average sound pressure level is
processed highly, select “Low.” You can also
set the Sound Optimizer function to “Normal”
or “Low,” and “Off” using SOUND
OPTIMIZER on the receiver.

Notes

• This function does not work in the following cases.

– “MULTI IN” is selected.
– “2ch Analog Direct” is being used.
– Headphones are being used.

• The receiver may play back signals at a lower

sampling frequency than the actual sampling
frequency of the input signals, depending on the
audio format.

Tip

By using the equalizer function and adjusting all the
speakers at one time, you can make fine adjustments
with the Sound Optimizer.

Adjusting the equalizer

You can use following parameters to adjust the
tonal quality (bass/treble level) of front,
surround/surround back and front high
speakers.

For the center speaker, you can also adjust the
middle level:

Select “Equalizer,” then press

Select “Front,” “Center,” “SUR/
SB,” or “Front High,” then press

.

Select “Bass,” “Mid” (for the
“Center” speaker only), or
“Treble.”

Adjust the gain, then press

.

Notes

• This function does not work in the following cases.

– “MULTI IN” is selected.
– “2ch Analog Direct” is being used.

• Frequencies for Bass, Treble, and Mid are fixed.
