9.2 Update or Customize Software
A customized operating system image can be developed with the needs of the
customer. In this case, please contact Beijer Electronics sales office for detailed
information.
9.2.1 Backup and Recovery
It is important to generate a backup image of the operating system. In case of
emergency, a recovery can be done in minutes using a backup image. Several
programs on the market are suitable for this.
A bootable device (such as a CD drive or USB Stick with a backup and recovery
program) as well a keyboard and mouse can easily be connected using a USB hub.
The default BIOS setting is set to boot automatically first from a USB device.
Recovering the System Using a USB Memory Stick with
a Beijer Electronics-Prepared Backup Image
Requirements:
• Acronis True Image Version 11 installed on the desktop PC
Perform the following steps to recover the system:
1. Connect an empty USB memory stick (4 GB) to your PC. 8. . 9.
2. Start Acronis and load the image (***.tib) to the USB stick.
3. Connect the USB stick to the Panel PC and switch the power on.
Windows XP Embedded is now loading from USB Device.
On the Windows XP Embedded desktop you will find:
a) A program named EasyImage (in the Utility folder)
b) An image (in the Image folder) to restore the internal Nand Flash with
Windows XP Embedded
4. Start the EasyImage program, select the Image file and start to restore the
internal Nand Flash.
After finishing restoring, you can shutdown the Panel PC via the Start menu.
5. Disconnect the USB stick and power on the Panel PC.
Windows XP Embedded will now be loaded from the internal flash.
