NOTE: Read the instructions carefully before proceeding with the actual installation.
NOTE: To avoid accidental start up of vehicle during the installation, remove both battery
cables & the battery. Securely block motorcycle in an upright position. Different models will
require the removal of shifting levers, foot pegs, etc. Remove whatever is necessary to
accomplish the installation per your OE service manual.

Using your OE manual, strip the motorcycle down to
what is shown in Figure 1.
Remove the bearing race from the transmission main-
shaft using JIM’Sl part # 34902-84.
Remove alternator rotor and check sprocket shaft oil
seal. The steel back on this seal should face away from
the engine when using a primary belt drive which will
keep oil from leaking into belt drive.
(Use seal HD part # 12068).

NOTE: All fasteners should be treated with a small
amount of either blue or red threadlocker depending on
the application.

Apply 2 drops of blue threadlocker on all motorplate
bolts. (See Figure 2)

Apply blue threadlocker to & then install
the 4 bolts around the sprocket shaft and
the 3 bolts around the mainshaft on the
rear of the motorplate. Torque the bolts
28-32 ft. llbs.
NOTE: The 3 bolt holes in the rear of the
motorplate are machined to accomadate
both the transmission bolt circle pattern of
1990-2000 models as well as 2001-2006
models. You must determine which holes
apply for your model and then use the
proper bolt and flat washer. . (See figure
4, 4a & 4b).

Slide the motorplate into position for installation, making
sure that the crossover heel/toe shifter shaft is inserted
into the bung on the motorplate.
