4.8 Hydraulic Manifold

(Figure 4-9)

Though it is not necessary to remove the manifold to
perform all maintenance procedures, a determination
should be made as to whether or not the manifold
should be removed before maintenance procedures
begin.

REMOVAL

1.

Disconnect the Battery Disconnect Plug.

2.

Remove the cover from the Chassis body.

3.

Tag and disconnect the solenoid valve leads
from the solenoids.

4.

Tag, disconnect and plug hydraulic hoses.

5.

Remove securing bolts that hold manifold block
to hydraulic resevoir.

6.

Remove the manifold block.

DISASSEMBLY

NOTE: Mark all components as they are
removed so as not to confuse their location
during assembly. Refer to Figure 4-9 often to
aid in disassembly and assembly.

1.

Remove coils from solenoid valves.

2.

Remove solenoid valves and the relief valves.

3.

Remove fittings and bonded washers.

CLEANING AND INSPECTION

1.

Wash the manifold in cleaning solvent to
remove built up contaminants and then blow out
all passages with clean compressed air.

2.

Inspect the manifold for cracks, thread damage
and scoring where O-rings seal against internal
and external surfaces.

3.

Wash and dry each component and check for
thread damage, torn or cracked O-rings and
proper operation.

4.

Replace parts and O-rings found
unserviceable.

ASSEMBLY

Note: Lubricate all O-rings before installation
to prevent damage to O-rings.

1.

Install fittings, plugs and bonded seals.

2.

Install the solenoid valves and tighten the coils
on to the valves.

3.

Install the Main Relief Valve and the Slew
Cross- Line Relief Valves .

Note: Torque relief valves to 45 Nm (33 ft. lbs).

Torque solenoid spool cartridges to 20 Nm
(14.75 ft. lbs)
Torque coil retaining nuts to 1.5 Nm (1.01 ft. lbs)

INSTALLATION

1.

Attach manifold assembly to the Hydraulic Tank
with bolts and washers.

2.

Connect hydraulic hoses to their destinations
on the manifold block.

3.

Connect solenoid leads to their correct coils.

4.

Operate each hydraulic function and check for
proper function and leaks.

5.

Re-secure cover to Chassis body.
