Replacing a Spindle Key

Follow these steps to replace a spindle key:

DANGER

Stop engine and remove key from ignition before
leaving operator’s seat for any reason. A child or
even a pet could engage an idling machine.

1. Lower header to ground, shut off engine, and

remove key.

2. Open cutterbar doors. Refer to Section

5.5 Cutterbar

CAUTION

Cutter blades have two cutting edges. Exercise
caution when working around the blades. Blades
are sharp and can cause serious injury.

Wear

gloves when handling blades.

3. Remove disc (A) from failed spindle. Refer to Section

Removing a Disc, page 119

4. Using a 34 mm socket wrench, remove nut (A) and

washer (B) from spindle.
