1.2

Intended use

The instrument 850 Professional IC – Anion – MCS – Prep 3 is used
for ion chromatographic determination of anions or polar substances with
sequential suppression:

Chemical suppression with the Metrohm Suppressor Module (MSM)
(see Chapter 2.18, page 56) and subsequent

suppression with the Metrohm CO

2

Suppressor (MCS) (see Chap-

ter 2.19, page 59).

The use of sequential suppression reduces background conductivity to a
minimum.

If required, the instrument can also be used for the determination of cati-
ons or anions without suppression.

The peristaltic pump and the sample preparation module (SPM) (see Chap-
ter 2.14, page 40)
in the lower part of the instrument are used for the
inline sample preparation – e.g. for or .
