Hardware Installation:

1. Attach one end of supplied PLX-5 phone cable to PLPA adapter connector.
2. Attach other end of supplied PLX-5 phone cable to the communication port

of the PLTRD-2 Infrared Transmitter.

3. Attach small plug of PLTRPS AC power adapter to PLTRD Infrared

Transmitter. (DO NOT plug in to AC power, yet.)

4. Attach adapter connector to open serial (COM) port on computer. Secure

with attached screws.

5. Attach PLTRPS AC power adapter to AC power outlet.
6. Position the Infrared Transmitter (PLTRD), such that, it can “See” all of

the Infrared receivers for all PowerLights. This is not too critical because
the signal will bounce off the walls and ceiling of your studio.

NOTE: Any infrared signal can be drowned out by intense light hitting the receiver (PLDIR)
of your PowerLight. For the best system operation, make sure the PLDIR receiver is not
saturated with intense ambient or artificial light. If possible, the PLDIR receiver should be
placed in a direct visual line from the PLTRD dome transmitter

Basic Operation:

Completing installation you will find Photogenic in your system PROGRAM menu with a
drop-down file labeled Photogenic Studio. The operational format is the typical windows
structure of FILE, UNIT SELECT, COM PORT, WINDOW and HELP. We have constructed
the software applications to mirror the basic PowerLight operation functions from the back
panel of the PowerLight. If you are not familiar with the operation of the light, please take
the time to read the PowerLight instruction manual at this time.
