Troubleshooting

Uneven seed depth (cont’d)

Seed bouncing out of furrow.

Engage Seed-Lok in dry conditions,
page 44.

Damaged row unit seed tube.

Check disk spreader, page 55.

Partially plugged row unit seed tube.

Lift up bean machine, expose bottom of
seed tube and clean out.

Opener disks not turning
freely.

Row unit plugged with dirt.

Clean row unit.

Planting conditions too wet.

Wait until drier weather.

Seed-Lok is plugging opener.

Bean machine frame height incorrect.

Check bean machine frame height, page
30.

Bean machine not level front-to-back in
the field.

Readjust top link to level bean machine.

Too much blade-to-blade contact.

Take shims under head of bolt and put
between opener and disk bearing, see

Failed disk bearings.

rate when seeding back and forth
with markers with few headlands,
curves and pointrows.

Incorrect tire size or air pressure

Excessive overlap or gaps between
passes.

Avoid overlap or gaps. Check marker
adjustment, page 42.

Soil conditions.

Loose soil and slippage will cause varia-
tions in acres registered.

Check that acremeter is for your width of
bean machine.

Refer to bean machine parts manual.

Actual field size different.

Verify field size.

Press wheels not compacting
the soil as desired

Too wet or cloddy.

Wait until drier weather or rework
ground.

Coulter set too shallow.

Check coulter adjustment, page 27.

Bean machine not running level front-to-
back in the field.

Readjust top link to level bean machine.

Row unit spring pressure too high.

Reduce row unit spring pressure.

Not enough pressure on press wheels.
