APPENDIX A

8.2 ARCHITECT’S SPECIFICATIONS
Basic Description

A multichannel microphone preamplifier comprising eight identical channels that are
both locally controllable and remotely controllable by MIDI protocols through MIDI and
Ethernet ports. The multichannel preamp shall further comprise an optional digital audio
output module.
The microphone preamps shall comprise the following selectable functions: 1.)
+48VDC Phantom Power; 2.) Polarity Reversal; 3.) 26dB Pad; 4.) 75Hz 12dB/Octave Low
Cut Filter; 5.) Continuous Gain Control from 26 to 65dB; 6.) MicLim™ Microphone Limiter;
7.) Channel Mute. The gain adjustment of the preamp channels shall take place in 1dB
stops with gain changes stepping through small fractions of a dB.
The analog outputs shall comprise a Main and an Aux balanced line output for each
channel. The Main and Aux outputs shall have their own separate gain adjustment in
addition to the preamp’s gain adjustment. The Main outputs shall occupy individual
XLR 3-pin male connectors. All eight Aux outputs shall occur on a single 25-pin D-Sub
connector conforming to the Tascam analog standard pinout.
The digital outputs shall comprise a 15-pin D-Sub connector carrying four AES/EBU
signal pairs, an ADAT® Optical jack, and a 25-pin D-Sub TDIF ® connector all operating
simultaneously. There shall be provisions to synchronize the digital module from Word
Clock (LR Clock), Superclock, and TDIF clock as well as an internal crystal oscillator reference.
The internal sample rates shall be selectable among 32KHz, 44.1KHz, and 48KHz.

Physical Properties

The device shall be packaged in an all metal chassis measuring 19” (482.23mm) wide,
3.5” (89mm) high, with an overall depth of 14.5” (355mm). Depth behind the front panel
shall be approximately 13” (330mm). The device shall have a net weight of approximately
14lbs. (6.37kg) and is capable of mounting in a standard electronic equipment rack.

Power

The unit shall have a self contained power supply operating on ac line voltages from 85 to
260V~ 50/60Hz. Connectorization and agency listings shall be appropriate to meet local
requirements.
