Troubleshooting

If you run into any problem using your camcorder, use the following table to
troubleshoot the problem. If the problem persists, disconnect the power source and
contact your Sony dealer or local authorized Sony service facility. If "C;DO:DD"
appears on the LCD screen or in the viewfinder, the self-diagnosis display function has
worked. See page 67.

START/STOP does not operate,

• The POWER switch is set to VTR.

-> Set it to CAMERA, (p. 13)

• STANDBY is set to LOCK.

-> Turn STANDBY to STANDBY (p. 13)

• The tape has run out. ^

-> Rewind the tape or insert a new one. (p. 12,21)

• The write-protect tab is set to expose the red mark.

^ Use a new tape or slide the tab. (p. 12)

• The tape is stuck to the drum (moisture condensation).

-> Remove the cassette and leave your camcorder for at

least 1 hour to acclimatize, (p. 70)

Recording ^ops in a few seconds.

• START/STOP MODE is set to 5SEC or 1.

The power goes off.

• While being operated in the CAMERA mode, your

camcorder has been in the standby mode for more than 3
minutes.

• Your camcorder is working with the AC power adaptor.

Use the battery pack.

The image on the viewfinder screen
is not clear.

• The viewfinder lens is not adjusted.

The SteadyShot function does not
work.

• STEADYSHOT is set to OFF in the MENU settings.
