5.3 Setting Up Actions

After a mode is defined, you must define how alarm actions are to be handled
for all device categories within that mode. Alarm actions determine how an
alarm is processed when it occurs, giving you complete control over who is
contacted, and in what order they are contacted.

Note:

There are some categories, such as new devices, repeaters, and locators that
should always remain as display only.

To set up actions in a mode:

1

Click “Actions” in the “Actions” column for the mode you wish to edit.

2

Enter an an action message in the “Action Message” field.

3

Select category.

4

As desired, check the box next to “Use device reset button to
acknowledge alarms.”

• When this box is checked the system will ignore the transmitter’s initial

restore message. Radius will keep the alarm active until the transmitter is
reset or the alarm is acknowledged on the Radius home screen. This is
typically only used on pendant transmitters, as they send a restoral
immediately after the alarm button is released, clearing the alarm and not
allowing for alarm escalation.

5

As desired, select a category for this action from the “Device Type/
Category” menu.

6

In the “Available contacts/alert devices” field, highlight the alert devices/
groups you want to add to the list of actions and click “Add”. They will be
added to the “When an alarm occurs (escalation)”.

• To select more than one alert device at a time, hold down the Ctrl key and

select multiple contacts.

7

Those alert devices/groups at the top of the list in the “When an alarm
occurs (escalation)” window will be contacted first in the event of an
alarm. To adjust the order, highlight an alert device/group and use the
“Up” and “Down” buttons.

• To remove a contact from the “When An Alarm Occurs” window, highlight

the contact and click “Remove.”

• To clear the “When An Alarm Occurs” list, click “Clear List.”
