3.2 Balance S-Chart for the wave-scan family
The new Balance Chart, a 2-dimensional appearance system, allows evaluating process
stability as well as harmony between add-on parts and car body. The ratio of the various
structure sizes are evaluated Æ improved correlation to the visual perception.
Scale 1: Wd - Measurement for Orange Peel (1)
The most critical parameter is orange peel as this type of structure is most obvious to the
customer at a far distance.
Scale 2: B - Balance (2)
.. the ratio between orange peel and small structure, based on “Balanced Structure
Spectra” with B=0. The scaling ranges from -10 (LW dominant) to +10 (SW dominant).
This report will give all important information at one glance, including Specifications (3)
and Structure Spectrum (4):
The report shows the results for horizontal and vertical areas on one page. When opening,
automatically the “Run Filter“ dialog box will be offered for guided selection of Database
and Checkzones. Therefore, click the “Redefine” button (5):

step, the “Open Data” window opens for definition of database and horizontal
checkzones. After selection confirm with the “Done” button. In the 2 nd step “Open Data”
appears for selection of the vertical checkzones. After confirmation check for the time
range to be displayed (6).
