ASSEMBLY REPLACEMENT INFORMATION.

For Propane (LR) Gas Models Only;

Your heater is equipped with a Propane (LR) gas

ohi

-

troljralve and a main burner assembly with left hand threads
for the following fittings and thdr connections.

The connection between the manifold and the gas
control valve (A to B) are left hand threads.

The connection between the main burner orifice
and the manifold (C to D) are left hand threads.

ordering

these

replacement

parts,

please

refer

to

the “Repair Parts” section of this manual.

Draining

The ^ter heater should be drained if being shut down during
frMzing temperatures. Also periodic draining and cleaning of
sediment from the tank may be necessary.

• Turn the gas control knob to the “OFF” position.
• CLOSE the cold water inlet valve to the water heater.

* nearby hot water iaucet and leave open to allow for

draining.

• Connect a hose to the drain valve and terminate to an ade­

quate drain.

• OPEN the water heater drain valve to allow for tank

draining.

Heater is goii^ to be shut down and

drained for an extended period^ the drain valve should be

left open with hose connected allowing water to terminate

to an adequate drain.

• Close the drain valve.

• Follow instructions in the “Filling Jhc Water Heater”

sfection.

• Follow the lighting instructions in the “Lighting” section to

restart the water heater.

Valve Operation

The temperature-pressure relief valve must be manually operated

at least once a year.

Failure to install and maintain a new properly listed tempera­
ture-premure relief valve will release the manufteturer from any

claim which might result from excessive temperature or pressure.

AWARNING

If

the

temperature-pressure

relief

valve

on

the

appliance

weeps or discharges periodically, this may be due to thermal
expansion.

Your

water

heater

may

have

a

check

valve

in^led in the water line or a water meter with a check

t«ive. Consult the Sears Service Center for further Informa­
tion. Do not pli

4g the temperature-pressure relief valve.

AWARNING

When checking the temperature-pressure relief valve opera­

tion, make sure that (!) no one is in front of or around the

ou^ of the temperature-pressure relief valve discharge line,

and (z) that the water maiiually discharged will not cause any

[wuperty damage because the water may be extremdy hot

If after manually operating the valve, it foils to completely

reset and continues to release water, immediately close the
cold water inlet to the water heater, follow the draining
instructions,

and

replace

the

temperature-pressure

relief

valve with a new one.
