Programming Special Audio

The UST-9000 has been programmed at the factory for all
standard audio settings. Check your local program guide for
audio settings on the satellite which are not 6.8 MHz, Mono.
If any of the channels have audio settings other than 6.8
MHz you will need to program the audio for those channels.

Find the channels in the guide which have special audio set

tings. Tune the receiver to the first channel. Press the Audio 1
keys to step up or down to the correct frequency. If the audio
portion of the channel is broadcast in multiplex stereo press
the Mode key until the MPX LED lights. The Stereo indicator
will also light.

If the audio portion of the channel is broadcast on two audio

frequencies press the Audio 2 keys to select the second audio
frequency as listed in your program guide. If the broadcast is
in stereo, press the Mode key to select Discrete or Matrix
stereo. The stereo indicator will light as well as the DSC (Dis
crete) or MTRX (Matrix! LED. Press the DNR key to activate
the Dynamic Noise Reduction feature. The DNR LED will
light. Press the N/W key if the program guide calls for narrow
band audio.

Double check the audio information displayed with your pro
gram guide to be sure ail information is correct. Press the
Memo key to enter the audio information into memoiy

Whenever this satellite and channel are selected, the auc%
portion will automatically be tuned as programmed. Contin

ue programming each channel that requires a special audio

setting.

NOTE: Most satellite audio programming will be broadcast
on 6.8 MHz, which has already been preprogrammed into

your receiver. Your local program guide will keep you updat

ed on which satellites and channels currently broadcast ster
eo audio and what the correct frequencies are for tuning.

Continue to the next satellite following the same procedure
until all satellite positions and all special audio settings are

stored in memory.

NOTE: The UST-9000 has a memory back-up circuit that will
keep the memory for about 1 year in the event of a power
failure.

Selecting a Satellite and Channel

To select a preprogrammed satellite simply press the Type key
until the desired satellite letter is displayed. Next press the
No. key until the satellite's number is displayed. Check your
local program guide to be sure that the correct satellite is
displayed. Press the Call key. The antenna will automatically
move to the position for that satellite.

Once the desired satellite has been located press the channel
keys to select a channel. The audio portion of that channel

will automatically tune to 6.8 MHz, Mono and Wide band
modes unless special audio frequencies have been program
med.

Selecting Audio

If you wish to change the preprogrammed audio setting, the
UST-9000 makes it easy. Follow the instructions in the Pro

gramming Special Audio section of this guide. If you do not
wish to permanently change the audio setting, do not press
the Memo key after tuning the special audio. The next time
the satellite and channel are called the audio will return to

the preprogrammed setting. If you decide to make a perma
nent change, press the Memo key after selecting the special
audio.

NOTE: If you call a satellite that has not been programmed
the No. display will flash and then return to the previous
satellite.
