The update buttons on the firmware update page (shown above) show the version number of
the firmware in each of the microcontrollers. If USL has supplied you with a newer version (a
.hex file), use the appropriate browse button to locate the file, then click the appropriate
update button. During the update process, the front panel LEDs will flash. When the update is
complete, the web page will time out. You should then be able to go back to this page (don’t hit
reload, as that will do the update again) or the configuration page to see that the new versions
have been installed.

The P32 includes the web server that is used during the update. During the update process, the
memory in this processor is erased, then reloaded with the new firmware. If something goes
wrong in this process, it is possible to end up with an inoperable unit. Should this happen, you
can restore the factory firmware by holding down the Left and LFE buttons when powering up
the CM-8E. The front panel LEDs should flash as the factory firmware is restored

.

7.0 System Operation

The CM-8E allows the auditorium audio to be monitored both in the booth and remotely. A
drawing of the front panel is below.

1. Input select buttons. These determine which channels and bands are driving the front

panel VU indicator, the front panel speaker, and the web stream. If the unit is
configured for biamp operation, the left, center, and right buttons “scroll” through the
full-range audio, the low band, and the high band before returning to off. Similarly, if
there is more than one LFE amplifier, the combined LFE can be monitored along with
each individual LFE amplifier. Finally, the Rs, Lrs, and Rrs buttons select one source,
the other, or both. For example, the first button press of Lrs selects the left rear
surround audio. The next selects the HI audio. The next selects both. The next turns
both off.
