It should be noted that a mains cut out switch is fitted to the CEL-206 that

will switch the unit off when the front cover is opened. This is provided to
prevent people tampering with the installation when it is in normal operation
by causing the control circuits to be activated. It does not therefore mean
that the instrument in 'safe' condition when the 'cover is' open and normal
precautions still need to be take as parts of the apparatus remain connected to
the mains supply.

For systems that are to be permanently wired into the mains supply a competent

electrician must undertake the installation. Although the units are set at the
factory for use on 240V supplies the tappings on the mains transformer may be
adjusted for any voltage in the range 110-250V, 50Hz or 60Hz. It is necessary
to ensure adequate capacity is available and that fusing arrangements comply
with the supply authority's requirements.

The terminal strip provides the following supplies:

Amplifier Power Feeds

Contact

No 11 Line - Normally on. (Off when control circuit activated)

10 Neutral

5 Earth

Remote Warning Indicator

Contact No 1 Line - Normally off. (On when threshold exceeded)

2 Neutral

5 Earth

The relay contacts operating these circuits are rated at 13A resistive and

hence in very high power installations suitable contactors must be used to
switch the loads.

Having completed the main connections the cover should be closed, the

microphone cable connected to the socket on the left-hand side of the unit and
the supply switched on. After the initial warm up period the meter will
indicate the dB(A) sound level and the control circuits will switch the
supplies and signals as per the instrument's specification.

3 CALIBRATION

The overall acoustic calibration of the system is performed prior to despatch

from our works but in line with accepted practice it should be checked from
time to time. This is achieved, by means of the CEL-184 acoustic calibrator and
CEL-2834 microphone coupler. The calibrator should be coupled to the microphone
as outlined in the calibrator's instruction book and the sound level meter
should then indicate the 90dB calibration level generated by the calibrator.
