4 OPERATION

Operation of the system is quite straightforward as it is intended to be left

permanently in operation throughout the performance. In those cases where the
control is via the main power supplies to the amplifiers it is obvious that the
only supply to the performers' equipment is via the controlled circuits. Where
signal attenuation control is employed the signal leads from the mixers to the
power amplifiers must be routed via the signal in and out jacks on the front
panel. The convenience of operation can be further improved by connecting the
CEL-208 Multi-threshold Unit and CEL-211 light column to the system as this
then enables performers to have a continual visual indication of the current
noise level.

CEL-208 MULTI THRESHOLD UNIT

Introduction

This accessory when operated in conjunction with the CEL-206 provides the
necessary logic and control to enable a ten step light column to be used as a calibrated
indication of the sound level. Such an arrangement gives a clear real-time
indication to the performers of the level and thereby enables them to accurately
control generated levels. At the same time it gives an enhancement to the visual
aspect of any associated light show.

1 Technical Description

An input signal level is taken from the CEL-2O6 Noise Level Limiter and this is amplified and
scaled prior to being fed to a series of ten sequential threshold detectors. Each of these
detectors controls a thyristor that is
