Note: Only 11 characters per line

can appear on the LCD at one

time. Therefore “

ACORN SQUASH

WITH PEAS

will not all appear on

the LCD at once. Instead the line

of text will automatically scroll

right to left when you place the

marking arrow next to that line.

To control the speed with which

the line scrolls, see SET UP on

page 19.
Press the

UP

or

DOWN

key repeat-

edly to scroll through the index

one line at a time, or hold either of

these keys down to scroll more

quickly. If you'd like to scroll

alphabetically by first letter

through the index, first press the

ABC

button. The “

ABC

icon will

then appear on the screen. (See

Using the

ABC

Button, page 8)

Then press

UP

or

DOWN

to move

alphabetically by first letter

through the index. When you

reach the initial letter you want,

press

ABC

again to exit that mode.

Then resume using the

UP

or

DOWN

keys to scroll through the

list item by item.
In the previous diagram, the left

arrow is positioned so that “

DUCK

will be selected if you press the

ON

/

ENTER

key. The number 11 at

the top of the diagram indicates to

you that Recipe Master includes

11 different entries for preparing

duck. If you press

ON

/

ENTER

to

confirm your choice of duck, the

LCD will display the subindex

under “

DUCK

,” indicating all 11

entries. For example, you’ll see

the following:

BRAISED, WI
CHARCOAL-GR
IN RED WINE
RED-COOKED

Press

UP

or

DOWN

to scroll

through this subindex, and press

ON

/

ENTER

to make a selection. If

you choose “

,”

the

LCD will then show the following

After inserting new batteries,

Recipe Master, and then press

Press any key to proceed to

the home menu. (An icon of a

house will appear in the top right

corner of your screen.)
The home menu gives you seven

choices, but Recipe Master can

show only six lines of text at a

time on the LCD. The home menu

looks like this:

MEASURING
TIMER
GLOSSARY AND TIPS
SET UP
SAVED [NONE]

Press the

UP

or

DOWN

key to scroll

through all of the choices. As you

scroll, an arrow on the left marks

your position in the list. Press the

UP

or

DOWN

key repeatedly if you

want to scroll one line at a time,

or hold one of those keys down if

you prefer to move through the

entire list quickly. After scrolling

to a desired item, simply press

ON

/

ENTER

to confirm your choice.

Then use the

UP

or

DOWN

arrow

keys to page down or up through

the text.

SEARCHING FOR A RECIPE

To search for a recipe, select

RECIPE

from the home menu by

scrolling to it and then pressing

ON

/

ENTER

. The LCD will display

a new menu:

INDEX
CATEGORY
RATING
DIFFICULTY

This menu shows you that there

are four ways to search for a

recipe—by index, category, rating

or level of difficulty. See below

for more information on each of

these methods.
Searching by index

The first way to find a recipe is to

search the main index. To do this,

press the

UP

or

DOWN

key to place

the arrow next to

INDEX

, and then

press

ON

/

ENTER

to confirm your
