CHAPTER 6 CLICK 500

Development

The Click 500 is a powerful platform that can integrate and process serial and digital I/O

data to support Click and SmartSensor applications; it can easily be customized for a wide

variety of applications including data collection, data processing, serial conversion, com-

munications testing and health monitoring.

Such applications can be developed by a third-party developer; the Click 500 Development

Bundle exists to aid such development. For more information on the development bundle,

see the appropriate datasheet on the Wavetronix website (www.wavetronix.com); for more

information on developing custom applications on the Click 500 platform, see the Click 500

Developer Guide.

In addition, Wavetronix has developed several real-world applications on the Click 500

platform; these clearly demonstrate the flexibility and versatility of this low-cost controller

when used in conjunction with other Wavetronix Click or SmartSensor products. These

applications make up the rest of the Click 500 series and will be discussed in the coming

chapters of this guide.

Case Color

The Click 500 differs from other Click modules in that it has a blue case; most modules’

cases are green, gray, or black. The blue case on the Click 500 indicates that it is not a Wa-

vetronix-supported device. This is because custom 500 applications are developed by third

parties, so Wavetronix cannot support them. If you are using a Click 500 application in a

blue case and it fails, please contact the developer of the application for support.

Physical Features

The system diagram of the Click 500 below shows a side-view and front view of the Click

500. The side label illustration shows placement of the major hardware components con-

nected to the Click 500 processor.
