PRE-OPERATION CHECK

Check Fuel Components

Fuel Level

1. Straddle the motorcycle on level ground and bring it to a vertical position.

2. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position and watch the fuel indicator light on the panel. NOTE: The light

will stay on if less than .8 gallons (3.0 liters) remains in the tank after starting the engine.

3. Check the fuel level.

4. Estimate your next fuel stop and plan accordingly to avoid running out of fuel.

Fuel Hose, Rail and Connections

Inspect the fuel hoses for cracks or damage. Inspect the hose connection at the fuel tank and at the fuel rail for

dampness or stains from leaking or dried fuel.

Evaporative Emission Control System (California model only)

Visually inspect all evaporative emission control system hoses and connections. Make sure all connections are tight.

Inspect the evaporative canister to make sure it has not been damaged.
