Rear Suspension

Adjust Rear Shock Absorber

This procedure involves using the shock absorber preload

wrench, a special spanner tool available from your dealer. The

tool is designed specifically for adjusting shock spring preload

on your motorcycle.

Notice

The distance measured while the motorcycle is

elevated will not change, and needs only be measured once. After

the measurement and the locations from where the measurement is

taken is recorded (steps 1-4), you will only need to perform steps

5-8 to correctly adjust the rear shock absorber spring.
Have an assistant help you complete the following procedure.
1. Elevate the rear of the motorcycle until the rear wheel is

about 1 inch (2.5 cm) off of the ground. Use an appropriate

motorcycle lift or a block of wood or steel placed securely

under the frame.

2. Measure the distance from the center of the rear axle to the

bottom of the rear fender directly above the axle.

3. Record the measurement and the locations from where the

measurement is taken in the space provided.

4. Remove the motorcycle lift apparatus and return the

motorcycle to the ground.
