OPERATION

Operating The Mower

Tip:

.

Damage to the mower and the BRUTUS may be caused if PTO is

engaged while in the travel position.

WARNING!
THROWN OBJECTS WILL CAUSE SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH

Clear mowing area of debris

.

Never operate mower in vicinity of other persons.

Keep all shields installed. repair or r eplace if damaged.Check

blades and mounting hardware. Replace if damaged. Never weld or

modify.

1. Adjust the tilt cylinder to set the mower level with the

ground. See page 18 and 20.

2. Engage the tilt lock. See page 20.

NOTICE: AVOID PTO DRIVELINE DAMAGE. PTO powered

attachments are not compatible with the tilt cylinder full

range of motion. Engage the tilt cylinder lock once the

attachment is level to prevent PTO driveline damage.

3. Adjust the deck height. See page 13.

4. Enter the utility vehicle. See page 16.

5. Start the engine.

6. Lower the attachment, keeping the mower 76 - 101 mm (3 - 4 in) from ground. See page 23.

7. Engage the PTO. See page 21.

8. Lower the mower setting the tires on the ground.

9. Slowly drive the utility vehicle forward. Watch for and avoid obstructions and obstacles that may cause damage to the

mower and utility vehicle.

NOTICE: Damage to the mower and utility vehicle may occur by hitting objects that can be easily hidden in the grass.

10. When at the end of a pass, stop and raise the mower 76 - 101 mm (3 - 4 in) from ground. Use caution when raising the

mower when the PTO is engaged, if the mower is raised too high, the attachment PTO shaft may bind causing damage.

Tip: Caution is to be used when raising the mower when the PTO is engaged.
Tip: If additional lift height is required for travel, disengage the PTO, then raise the mower to desired height.

11. Drive the utility vehicle to the desired starting point, while moving over up to 3/4 the width of the mower.

12. Continue mowing follow steps 8 through 11 until finished.

The utility vehicle speed is determined by the depth and density of the grass.

WARNING!
ROTATING BLADES CAN CAUSE INJURY OR DEATH
• Never put hands, feet or objects into or under the mower when the engine is running

.

• Keep bystanders away.
• No riders.
• Stop engine before servicing.

Disengage the PTO when the area to be mowed is finished. See page 22.
