b. Select the VM button in the menu bar.
c. Select Removable Devices .
d. Select USB Devices .
e. Select the MA server dongle from the list: in the illustration, Aladdin
Knowledge System USB device (Port1) .
The virtual machine starts.
4. After the restart, click on Stop and then Start .
5. Log on to the MA server, using the browser on the User-PC.
IP Networking Information
This IP networking information is to assist the User/Admin if network IP settings need to be
changed. Because the MA server is pre configured to User network specifications, the actual
LAN IP addresses may be different from those used in the examples and illustrations.
It is assumed that both the Windows host operating system and the SuSE Linux guest operating
system are functional.
The MA server’s network IP setup has two primary steps:
1. Configuring the Windows (host) LAN IP networking settings.
2. Configuring the MA Server’s Linux (Guest to Host) IP network settings.
This requires the VMware Workstation.
Assign the MA Server A Fixed IP Address
The MA Server must be assigned a fixed network IP address to ensure that a stable
connection is maintained with the real network, the host system, and the overture MA server.
Because many networks employ dynamic IP addressing, it is necessary to convert the MA
server’s dynamic network IP to fixed. The following procedure includes a method for
converting a network IP from dynamic to fixed.
However, depending on the DHCP server’s consistency at issuing the same IP to the MA
server, the User/Administrator may need to periodically reset the MA system’s network
settings.
Fixed IP Addresses Preferred For MA Server LAN Connections
When connecting the MA server to a network using dynamic IP addressing, the most consistent
connection uses fixed IPs.
Contact the Network Administrator and request a range of IP addresses to use for MA server
network setup.
