FS-C Portable DTE Recorder

Do Not Disconnect Power or FireWire Cable

Never disconnect the power or the FireWire cable during a
recording. This will cause file corruption.

Loss of Power During Recording
If power is lost during recording it is possible to repair the
damaged file or files, refer

Repair Disk

on page 86 to and

Repair Clip DV Mode only

on page 87.

Troubleshooting: Counter Not Incrementing
If the Counter does not increment while recording from the camera, it
is an indication that there is no active connection between the FS-C
and the camera.

Verify that the FS-C 1394 DV I/O and the camera connections are
secure. It may be necessary to unplug and then reconnect them.

When a good connection is made, the Counter increments and
recording starts.

Verify Record Mode Matches Source Video Content and Format
If in DV Recorder mode, HD content will not record properly. A NTSC
or PAL DV source records only on a matching NTSC or PAL unit.

Switch Camera to External Control Mode
To set your companion Canon camcorder to external control mode,
turn the SYSTEM>DV CONTROL menu to ON.

EXTERNAL Control Requires 5 Second Wait
When using EXTERNAL control, FS-C requires a 5 second wait period
between stopping and starting a recording.

HDV Recording with Tape
When recording with a tape in the camera, there may be small clips at
the beginning of the FS-C recording. This is normal.
