4. RESPIRATORY PROTECTION. Wood dust cre-

ated by this machine may cause severe respi-
ratory illnesses. Minimize your risk from this
hazard by wearing a NIOSH approved respira-
tor while operating this machine.

5. HEARING PROTECTION. Operating this

machine for extended periods of time may
cause hearing loss. Wear hearing protection
to minimize this risk.

6. ENTANGLEMENT AVOIDANCE. Loose cloth-

ing, gloves, neckties, jewelry or long hair may
get caught in moving parts. Remove or other-
wise secure these items when operating this
machine to reduce your risk.

1. OWNER'S MANUAL. This type of machine

presents serious injury hazards to untrained
users. Read through the entire manual before
starting the machine.

2. GUARDS. Operating this machine with any

of the guards removed greatly increases the
risk of serious accidents. Only operate this
machine with the guards in place, undam-
aged, and correctly working.

3. EYE PROTECTION. Operating this machine

may result in an eye injury. Minimize this risk
by wearing safety glasses. Everyday eyeglass-
es only have impact resistant lenses, they are
NOT safety glasses.

Zero Risk Does Not Exist

As with any human activity, zero risk from using machinery does not exist and cannot be attained.

Operating this machine, as well as any machine, can be dangerous or relatively safe depending on the
condition of the machine and the operator's experience, common sense, working conditions, and use of
personal protective equipment (e.g., safety glasses, respirators, etc).

Understanding this manual reduces the risks from using this machine. Because not every possible haz-
ard can be identified, common sense and risk awareness must be used at all times.

To protect yourself, assess the hazards of each activity you perform and find the best way to perform
those activities or use protective devices to decrease your risk of an accidental injury.
