Using Your VAIO Computer

To communicate without an access point (ad-hoc)

You cannot select the 5 GHz bandwidth, which is used for the IEEE 802.11a standard, on ad-hoc networks.

The IEEE 802.11n standard, using the 2.4 or 5 GHz bandwidth, is not available on ad-hoc networks.

Turn on the WIRELESS switch.
The Wireless LAN indicator lights up.

Double-click

) on the taskbar to display the Wireless Device Switch window. Select your desired wireless

option(s) and click OK.

Click Start and then Control Panel.

Click Network and Internet Connections.

Click Network Connections.
The Network Connections window appears.

Right-click Wireless Network Connection, then click Properties.
The Wireless Network Connection Properties window appears.

Select the Wireless Networks tab.

Click the Add… button.
The Wireless network properties window appears.

Follow the on-screen instructions.

See the online Specifications to see whether your model supports the Bluetooth functionality, the IEEE 802.11a/b/g standard, and/or the draft form of
the IEEE 802.11n standard.
