Topic: Why doesn't my CD-RW drive record at the highest speed?

You must use 8x CD-R or 4x CD-RW media to achieve optimum performance.

If you must use other media and are having difficulty formatting non-4x CD-RW
media, change the write speed from 4x to a lower setting. Follow these steps to
switch the write speed to a lower setting.

From the Start menu, select Programs > Adaptec Easy CD Creator 4>
Create CD

Click Audio, then click Audio CD.

On the Tools menu, click CD Drive Properties. The CD Drive Properties
dialog box appears.

At the Write Speed drop-down list, select 2x or 4 x.

Click Close.

From the Start menu, select Settings > Control Panel.

Click the Display icon and select the Settings tab.

Move the Display area slider to change the resolution.

The VAIO Slimtop™ computer has a maximum record rate of 8x for CD-R and 4x for
CD-RW media.

Your CD-RW drive is assigned drive G: as its default.

1X writing is not supported.
