Operations
Display dimmer adjustment
The dimmer function lets you select the brightness of the receiver's
display. You might find this useful if you darken your room to watch movies
or listen to music.
• The adjustment item is displayed for approximately 8 seconds.
• Some Dolby Digital (AC-3) software may not be compatible with the
Midnight mode.
Each time you press the DIMMER key, the display brightness
changes among the three available settings. Select the bright-
ness level you find most pleasing.
When you operate on the remote control unit, press the F.SHIFT
key before pressing the DIMMER key.
2 Use the MULTI CONTROL knob or the 5/∞ keys to select the on
or off setting.

SUBWOOFER adjustment
It is easy to adjust the volume of the subwoofer using the remote control.
1 Press the SUB. W. key so that "SW" is displayed.
2 Use the VOLUME (VOLUME+/-) to adjust the volume.
•The adjustable range is -10 dB to +10 dB.
Ambience effects
Midnight mode (Dolby Digital (AC-3) mode only)
When watching movies at night you might not be able to raise the volume
as loud as normal. Midnight mode compresses the dynamic range of
previously specified parts of the Dolby Digital (AC-3) sound track (like
scenes with sudden increases in volume) to minimize the difference in
volume between the specified and non-specified parts. This makes it easy
to hear all of the sound track, even when listening at low volumes.
1 Press the SOUND key several times until "NIGHT" is displayed.
• This can be selected only if CD / DVD , VIDEO2 , or VIDEO3 is
selected as the source and the input mode is set to set to "DOLBY
DIGITAL."
Circle surround mode
When you enjoy multi sound from the stereo source (Circle Surround), you
can select the circle surround mode.
1 Press the LISTEN MODE (LISTEN M.) key so that “CIRCLE
SURROUND” is displayed.
2 Press the SOUND key so that "CINEMA/MUSIC" is displayed.
3 Use the MULTI CONTROL knob or the 5/∞ keys to select
"CINEMA" (for movies) or "MUSIC" (for music).

96KHz LPCM playback
The receiver is compatible with the 96kHz LPCM playback. To play a
96kHz DVD, set the listen mode to "STEREO."
• When "96kHz" appears in the display, press the LISTEN MODE key
(the listen mode changes to the STEREO mode).
